Cooking with love, all my life
Kitchens at 13, my first restaurant at 19, and every year of cooking since.
Back to About PeteWhere it all started

The kitchen has always been where I feel most at home. I started working in kitchens at 13, did my cooking apprenticeship at 17, and opened my first restaurant at 19.
From there I spent years in restaurants, building the Hugos group with my brother. Our restaurants earned eight chef's hats, and in 2005 our pizza was named the best in the world at the American Pizza Challenge in New York. Then came television. I cooked my way through hundreds of episodes of food and travel shows, and for 11 seasons I was a judge on My Kitchen Rules, which won the Logie for Most Popular Reality Program in 2014. I also hosted A Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking in the US, which was nominated for a Daytime Emmy.
Then everything changed

Then, about fifteen years ago, everything changed. I read Primal Body, Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas, the person who got me into paleo. I changed the way I ate, and within a couple of weeks I felt better than I had in years. I stepped away from the restaurants and have spent every year since learning, cooking and sharing what real food and simple daily habits can do.
These days my plate is mostly good meat, seafood and eggs with plenty of veg. The heart of it hasn't changed, though: cook real food, share it with the people you love, and keep it simple.
All of it, in one place
Healthy Everyday brings it all together in one place: 1,000+ of my recipes (with 3 new every week), the 21-day Nourish reset, daily reminders, and a community of people building a longer, healthier life one small habit at a time.
